Living in Chichester, NH

Most commercial development in Chichester lies along US 202, known as Dover Road, where NH 9, US 4 and US 202 run together between northern Pembroke and Epsom, and along NH 28, Suncook Valley Road, which parallels the Suncook River on the eastern edge toward Pittsfield. The civic center, with the town hall and historical society, sits near the meeting of Main Street, Canterbury Road and Center Road, about half a mile northeast of US 202. The highest point is an unnamed 1,015-foot summit midway between Garvin Hill to the east and Plausawa Hill, just over the line in Pembroke, with all three less than a mile apart. Water covers about half a percent of the town. Chichester was granted in 1727 and named for the Duke of Newcastle, who was also Earl of Chichester; settlement began in 1758.
