Living in Deerfield, NH

Deerfield covers about 52 square miles, much of it wooded hill country. Nottingham Mountain near the western border rises to 1,345 feet, part of the Pawtuckaway Mountains and a small section of Pawtuckaway State Park lie along the eastern edge, and the southwest corner holds part of Bear Brook State Park, including the campground at Spruce Pond and Beaver Pond. The Lamprey River and its North Branch drain most of town toward the coast, while the west and far north drain to the Merrimack. NH 43 and NH 107 share Raymond Road and North Road through the center. Deerfield Parade, a hilltop district settled around 1740 on the old Concord-to-Portsmouth postal route, was where Revolutionary and Civil War militia drilled on the common. Deerfield Community School on North Road serves pre-K through grade 8, and the old George B. White School now houses the town offices.
