Welcome to Antrim

Antrim is a town in northwestern Hillsborough County whose main village sits at the crossing of U.S. Route 202 and NH Route 31, between Hillsborough to the northeast and Hancock to the south. Settled in 1744 and named for County Antrim in Ireland, it grew as a mill town along Great Brook and made cutlery until 1989. Antrim NH real estate takes in the villages of Antrim Center, North Branch and Clinton Village, plus Gregg Lake and Willard Pond.

Living in Antrim, NH

Great Brook once powered more than twenty mills on its run from Gregg Lake down to the Contoocook River, and commercial life settled in South Antrim, now the main village. Today that village, at Routes 202 and 31, has the James A. Tuttle Library, the Antrim Historical Society and Museum, the Antrim Grange and Memorial Park. Antrim Center and Clinton Village sit close by, while North Branch, on the Contoocook's North Branch, is home to Hawthorne Academy on the former Nathaniel Hawthorne College campus. The west of town is hill country: Gregg Lake and Willard Pond lie there, with Bald Mountain, the town's highest point at 2,037 feet, rising over Willard Pond. Great Brook School, the middle school, is in town, and high school students go to ConVal Regional High School in Peterborough. The Antrim Home and Harvest festival is held each early fall.
