Situated between the Lakes Region and the White Mountains, Freedom, New Hampshire is a town in Carroll County. Its eastern boundary runs along the Maine state line, and Ossipee Lake, with a resort and camps, reaches into the southwest corner of town. Freedom is drained by the Ossipee River and lies entirely within the Saco River watershed. Freedom NH real estate runs from that lake corner to the hills below Cragged Mountain.

On the Maine border, the town of Freedom, NH has a share of Ossipee Lake, where the southwest corner holds a resort and camps. The lake also extends into Ossipee and Effingham, and the Ossipee River flows out of it through Freedom. Cragged Mountain, at 1,806 feet in the northeastern corner, is the highest point, and Cragged Mountain Farm, a summer camp started there in 1927 by Dr. Henry Utter, is still owned by the Utter family. Freedom is one of the sites of Nature's Classroom and has a permanent campsite of the Luethi-Peterson Camps. Part of The Nature Conservancy's 2,700-acre Ossipee Pine Barrens Preserve lies in Freedom. The town took its name in 1831, when North Effingham separated from Effingham.
