Welcome to Pembroke

Three rivers wrap around Pembroke, a Merrimack County town: the Merrimack along its southwest edge, the Soucook on the northwest and the Suncook on the southeast. It sits just east of Concord, includes part of the village of Suncook, and lies close to the center of population of New Hampshire. Pembroke NH real estate is set in a river town whose downtown grew up around water-powered mills.

Living in Pembroke, NH

Water power shaped the town where houses for sale in Pembroke NH now stand. Mills along the Suncook River, among them Pembroke Mills, Webster Manufacturing and China Manufacturing, produced print cloth, and bricks were once made from clay along the Merrimack. Plausawa Hill, at 1,000 feet in the north, is the highest point. U.S. Route 3 enters from Allenstown in Suncook village after crossing the Suncook River and follows Pembroke Street northwest to the Soucook and Concord. NH 106 begins at an interchange with US 3 and heads north, and NH 28 follows the west bank of the Suncook as Pinewood Road. In a narrow salient at the northern edge of town, Interstate 393 ends and the road continues as NH 9 with US 4 and US 202, known locally as Loudon Road. Pembroke Academy, founded in 1818 as a private school, is now a public high school.
