Incorporated in 1746, it keeps a town center listed on the National Register as the Hollis Village Historic District, and it is known for its June Strawberry Festival, October Apple Festival and September Old Home Days. Hollis NH real estate covers rolling land drained by the Nashua and Nissitissit rivers, with Silver Lake and Birch Hill inside town.

Living in Hollis, NH

Routes 122 and 130 cross at the town center: Route 122 runs north and south as Pepperell Road, Main Street and Silver Lake Road, and Route 130 runs east and west as Proctor Hill Road, Ash Street and Broad Street toward Brookline and Nashua. Nichols Field downtown hosts Hollis Old Home Days on the second weekend of September, with a parade and fireworks, and the Hollis Town Band plays at the Strawberry Festival in June and the Apple Festival in October. Near the center, a large stone and plaque honor the Nevins brothers, who left the boulder in the road to join the minutemen in 1775. The Farley Building, the original 1877 Hollis High School, is now town-owned. The Nashua River crosses the southeastern corner, the Nissitissit River flows through the west, and Pennichuck Brook rises north of Silver Lake. Birch Hill, at 821 feet, is the highest point.
