Living in Shelburne, NH

Shelburne is a river-valley town between two ranges. The Androscoggin provided farmland on either side of the river, soil Wikipedia describes as excellent, while the Mahoosuc Range rises in the north and the Carter-Moriah Range in the south, where the town's highest point, at 3,970 feet, sits just north of the 4,049-foot summit of Mount Moriah. Part of the White Mountain National Forest lies in the south of town, Leadmine State Forest is here, and the Appalachian Trail crosses Shelburne. A grove of birch trees dedicated to the town's World War II soldiers is popular with artists and photographers. The town was granted in 1769, named for the Earl of Shelburne, and incorporated in 1820; its Shelburne Addition became Gorham in 1836.
