Welcome to Enfield

Enfield is a Grafton County town between Lebanon and Canaan, drained by the Mascoma River on its way west to the Connecticut. Mascoma Lake fills the western side of town, and Interstate 89, U.S. Route 4 and NH Routes 4A and 10 all pass through. Buyers searching for Enfield NH real estate will find it spread across several villages, including Enfield village at the lake's inlet, Enfield Center, Lockehaven, Montcalm and the Upper and Lower Shaker Villages.

Living in Enfield, NH

Enfield village, the main settlement, is centered on U.S. Route 4 where the Mascoma River enters Mascoma Lake. On the lake's southwest shore stands Enfield Shaker Village, founded in 1793 and now the Enfield Shaker Museum, which in 2023 acquired the remaining buildings and land on the historic property. Its Great Stone Dwelling dates to 1837 to 1841, and the Shaker Historic Trail explores the grounds. Shaker Bridge, first built in 1849 to carry goods across Mascoma Lake to the railroad, still links the shores. The Lockhaven Schoolhouse Museum is another local landmark. Mascoma Lake, at 751 feet, is the lowest point in town, while Prospect Hill rises past 2,100 feet over Halfmile Pond. Crystal Lake lies in the east of town.
