Living in Randolph, NH

Randolph is mountain country on both sides of U.S. Route 2. To the north rise Mount Crescent, Black Crescent Mountain, Mount Randolph and Pond Hill; to the south are the northern slopes of the Presidentials, where a 3,950-foot knob on Howker Ridge, a spur of Mount Madison, is the town's highest point. The northern and southern parts of town lie within the White Mountain National Forest and the Ice Gulch Town Forest. The Randolph Mountain Club, founded in 1910 to restore trails damaged by logging, operates four camps in the national forest. The town owns Durand Lake, an artificial lake, and the summer Ravine House Pool, with tennis courts nearby. Visitors once arrived by train and stayed at hotels, and private vacation homes became more common as cars did.
