Welcome to New Boston

New Boston is a rural Hillsborough County town west of Goffstown and Bedford, drained by the South and Middle Branches of the Piscataquog River. State Routes 13, 77 and 136 meet at its central village, and Joe English Hill rises in the south. The town is home to the Hillsborough County Agricultural Fair and the Molly Stark Cannon, and New Boston NH real estate spreads across more than 43 square miles of hills, river valleys and farmland.

Living in New Boston, NH

The town took the name New Boston from its original 1736 grantees, who came from Boston, and it was incorporated in 1763. Its village center was rebuilt after the Great Village Fire of 1887, and Dodge's Store, opened there in 1872, is still a landmark after reopening under new owners. The old railroad grade, used from 1893 until the tracks came up in 1935, is now the multi-use New Boston Rail Trail. The fairgrounds host the Hillsborough County Fair, usually in September, and a large Fourth of July parade that ends with the firing of the Molly Stark Cannon, a 1743 gun given to the town by General John Stark after the Battle of Bennington. Klondike Corner is a low-density area in the southeast, and the 2,800-acre New Boston Space Force Station tracks military satellites. New Boston Central School teaches through grade six.
