Welcome to Londonderry

Londonderry is the westernmost town in Rockingham County, set between Manchester and Derry with Auburn, Windham, Hudson and Litchfield also on its borders. Interstate 93 runs up its eastern side, and the main terminal of Manchester-Boston Regional Airport sits in the northwest corner. The town is known for apple orchards and as headquarters of Stonyfield Farm. Londonderry NH real estate grew mostly after the 1970s, when I-93 turned a rural farming town into a Greater Boston exurb.

Living in Londonderry, NH

Londonderry never built a traditional downtown. Its retail centers on the NH 102 interchange with I-93 (Exit 4), with smaller commercial pockets where NH 128 meets NH 102 and where NH 28 and NH 128 merge near Exit 5. Locally, NH 102 is Nashua Road, NH 128 is Mammoth Road and NH 28 is Rockingham Road. Town Hall and the schools stand near the geographic center along a rural stretch of Mammoth Road. Orchards such as Mack's Apples, Sunnycrest Farm and Elwood Orchards keep the farming heritage visible, and apple picking is a fall routine; a former orchard is becoming Woodmont Commons, a 600-acre commercial and residential development. Beaver Brook drains the east and south, while Little Cohas, Watts, Colby and Nesenkeag brooks flow west to the Merrimack. Number Eight Hill, at 535 feet, is the high point. The area was first called Nutfield for its nut trees.
