Welcome to Stratham

Stratham occupies the land between Great Bay and the Squamscott River in Rockingham County, which is why early settlers called it the Squamscott Patent or Point of Rocks. Settled in 1631 and incorporated in 1716 as the colony's sixth town, it borders Exeter, Greenland, North Hampton, Newfields and Newmarket. Stratham NH real estate sits along Routes 33, 108 and 111, with the Route 101 expressway crossing the south end of town.

Living in Stratham, NH

Stratham Hill and neighboring Jewell Hill, both glacial drumlins, share the town's high point at 290 feet, and Stratham Hill Park and the nearby Gordon Barker Town Forest have a combined trail system for hiking and mountain biking. The park now hosts an annual Summerfest, which replaced the long-running Stratham Fair. Most of the town drains north through the Squamscott River to Great Bay, while the east side drains to the Winnicut River. Phinehas Merrill mapped the whole town in 1793, so it is possible to tell which surviving buildings predate his survey, and National Register listings include the John Crockett House, Emery Farm and the original Wiggin Memorial Library. Stratham Memorial School and the Cooperative Middle School are in town, and high school students attend Exeter High School. The only U.S. Lindt factory and the headquarters of Timberland are also here.
