Homes for sale in Goshen, NH lie in hilly country drained by the South Branch Sugar River.

Living in Goshen, NH

Goshen village lies on Route 10 in the western part of town, where Route 31 begins its run southeast to Hillsborough. The long ridge of Mount Sunapee occupies the eastern edge, and an unnamed knob near Goves Mountain reaches 2,529 feet, the town's highest point. The South Branch Sugar River and its tributaries, Blood Brook and Gunnison Brook, drain most of the town to the Connecticut River. Cherry Brook, one of the headwaters of the Ashuelot River, drains much of the southeast, and a small corner in the far southeast holds the headwaters of the West Branch Warner River, which flows east to the Merrimack. Open water is scarce, at 0.41 percent of the area. Goshen was first settled in 1768 as part of Saville, now Sunapee, and was incorporated in 1791; its name may come from Goshen, Connecticut. The 19th-century Army explorer John Williams Gunnison is counted among the town's notable people.
