The Piscataquog River runs through the main village at the junction of NH Routes 13 and 114, and the twin Uncanoonuc Mountains rise in the southwest. Living in Goffstown, NH

Goffstown was incorporated in 1761 and named for Colonel John Goffe, and the Piscataquog River once powered sawmills, grain mills and textile mills here. The village of Grasmere straddles the river in the east-central part of town and was named for Grasmere, England. The north peak of the Uncanoonuc Mountains, at 1,324 feet, is the highest point; the south peak once had an incline railway and hotel and now holds broadcast towers. Glen Lake and Namaske Lake sit along the Piscataquog near NH Route 114. Each October the Goffstown Giant Pumpkin Regatta races hollowed-out pumpkins on the river under Main Street. Saint Anselm College hosts the New Hampshire Institute of Politics and presidential primary debates. The Goffstown Historical Society occupies the former Parker Depot Store, and routes 13, 114 and 114A connect the town to New Boston, Dunbarton, Weare, Bedford and Manchester.
