It holds the southernmost edge of Umbagog Lake, reached on NH Route 26 from Errol or from Upton, Maine, and the Androscoggin River flows south through its northwestern corner beside NH Route 16. Errol lies to the north, Milan to the south and Dummer to the west, with Oxford County, Maine, to the east.
Living in Cambridge, NH
Cambridge was granted in 1793 to Nathaniel Rogers and others and covered about 23,160 acres. Like other New Hampshire townships, it is not part of any town and has limited self-government. Six miles north, in Errol, the outlet of Umbagog Lake becomes the Androscoggin River, which then runs south through Cambridge. Part of the 13-Mile Woods Scenic Area follows the river and NH Route 16 through the township, the road leading north to Errol and south to Berlin. The entire township drains to the Androscoggin, and its three main tributaries here are, from north to south, Mollidgewock Brook, Bog Brook and Chickwolnepy Stream, which is fed by Blackstrap Brook. Cambridge Black Mountain, at 2,780 feet, is the high point. Only about 0.7 of its 51.7 square miles is water.
