Welcome to Concord

Concord is the capital city of New Hampshire and the seat of Merrimack County, set on the Merrimack River in the south-central part of the state. The river runs northwest to southeast through the city, and the Soucook River forms its eastern line with Pembroke. Concord NH real estate spans a downtown with North End and South End neighborhoods plus four villages: Penacook, Concord Heights, East Concord and West Concord.

Living in Concord, NH

Downtown sits on a low terrace west of the Merrimack, with residential streets climbing the hills to the west and running south toward Bow. Across the river, Concord Heights occupies a flat, sandy plain atop a 100-foot bluff and has drawn most of the city's commercial growth since 1960. Penacook lies on the Contoocook River just before it joins the Merrimack, and Penacook Lake in the west is the largest lake in the city and its main water supply. Oak Hill, at 860 feet, is the high point. Main Street holds the State House, the 1827 Eagle Hotel and Phenix Hall. Concord Hospital, NHTI, the University of New Hampshire School of Law and St. Paul's School are all in the city, and Concord Municipal Airport offers general aviation two miles east of downtown.
