Welcome to Milford

Milford is a Souhegan River town in south-central Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, about 20 miles southwest of Manchester and 14 miles northwest of Nashua. Known as The Granite Town for the quarries that supplied pillars for the U.S. Treasury, it is the retail and manufacturing center of the Souhegan Valley. Homes for sale in Milford NH range from the town center at the junction of Routes 13 and 101A to hillier land toward Boynton Hill.

Living in Milford, NH

Milford took its name from a mill built at a ford on the Souhegan River, and the town later grew around 19th-century textile mills. Its center is the Milford Oval, officially Union Square, a triangular common with the Pillsbury Bandstand at its heart and the river behind it, formed by the rotary where Routes 13 and 101A cross. Every October the three-day Pumpkin Festival fills the Oval with music stages, a craft fair, carved pumpkin lighting and fireworks. The Milford State Fish Hatchery and the Wadleigh Memorial Library are in town. Mitchell Brook and Spaulding Brook drain the southwest toward Brookline, and Boynton Hill, near the western border, rises to 814 feet. Milford also contains part of the Wilton census-designated place, and the Milford School District runs schools from Jacques Memorial through Milford High School and Applied Technology Center.
