Living in Easton, NH

Easton is a mountain town shaped by the Kinsman Range, whose mountains, ridge and notch are named for Nathaniel Kinsman, one of the original settlers. The town's highest point, at 4,040 feet, is just west of the North Peak of Kinsman Mountain. Two rivers split the town: the Ham Branch of the Gale River flows north past the village, and the Wild Ammonoosuc River flows west through the south along Route 112, all within the Connecticut River watershed. The south of town holds the history of Wildwood, a former logging settlement with sawmills, a school and a post office; log drives from Mount Moosilauke ran through it until 1911, and in 1933 it became the site of New Hampshire's first Civilian Conservation Corps camp. Easton was formed from East Landaff in 1876.
