Welcome to Marlow
Marlow is a hill town in northern Cheshire County, drained by the Ashuelot River and bordered by Lempster, Washington, Stoddard, Gilsum, Alstead and Acworth. Route 10 runs through it between Newport and Keene, and Route 123 links Stoddard and Alstead. Huntley Mountain, at 1,978 feet, rises in the northeast, and Honey Brook State Forest is within town lines. Marlow NH real estate is largely rural, set on rocky, glacier-shaped ground.
Living in Marlow, NH
Marlow carries many marks of glacial action, and minerals are still found here. The Ashuelot River once powered a woodworking industry that turned local lumber into tools, furniture and wooden buckets; by 1859 the town had seven sawmills, a gristmill, a carriage shop, a tin shop and two tanneries. Farmers worked the rolling, somewhat rocky land for hay, grain and vegetables. Today Honey Brook State Forest protects part of the town, and the highest point is the summit of Huntley Mountain in the northeast corner. Three state routes cross Marlow: Route 10 north to Newport and south to Keene, Route 123 east to Stoddard and west to Alstead, and a short stretch of Route 123A heading toward Acworth. Marlow was also the original home of the company PC Connection, now called Connection.
