Welcome to Rindge

Rindge sits on the Massachusetts line in southern Cheshire County, a hilly upland lake town bordered by Jaffrey, Sharon, New Ipswich, Fitzwilliam and the Massachusetts towns of Ashburnham and Winchendon. U.S. Route 202 and New Hampshire Route 119 cross it. Rindge is home to Franklin Pierce University, the Cathedral of the Pines and part of Annett State Forest, and its ponds and lakes set much of the town's character.

Living in Rindge, NH

Rindge is made up of four villages: Rindge Center, East Rindge, Converseville and West Rindge. Water covers close to 7 percent of the town. Hubbard Pond lies in the northeast, Pearly Lake in the northwest, Contoocook Lake on the northern boundary and Lake Monomonac on the southern line with Massachusetts. The town sits on a regional watershed divide and is the headwaters of two river systems: the Contoocook River flows north toward the Merrimack, while the North Branch of the Millers River runs southwest to the Connecticut. The highest ground is on the eastern border, on the lower slopes of Pratt Mountain at 1,505 feet. By 1859 water power here ran gristmills, sawmills, shingle mills, stave mills and clapboard mills. Today Franklin Pierce University and the Cathedral of the Pines are the best-known institutions in town.
